If you love history, you have to visit England.
England has so much history, it is everywhere to go. From Stonehenge, to William the Conqueror, to the Tower of London, to King Henry VIII, and more. England is such an amazing place.
When we arrived, we spent most of our first day in London. Touring the Tower of London was fascinating as there is some much history here. Seeing armor that belonged to King Henry VIII and the old castle walls, parts of which date back to 1078, was incredible. Part of the castle is now home for the Crown Jewels of England and Royal Mint. From 1100 to 1952 the castle served as a prison but that was not its only purpose. Executions took place on the grounds of The Tower of London, mostly on Tower Hill. There were around 112 executions that took place here, most notably Anne Boleyn, the wife of King Henry VIII who had her executed.
From London we traveled northeast to Bury St. Edmunds. It is a nice, smaller town that has a few attractions, such as: Moyse’s Hall Museum; the ruins of The Abbey (built in 1020); the Abbey Gardens; and St Edmunds Cathedral.
