Sedona, Arizona

Sedona…what can we say. It’s a place like no other. Magical rock formations and mystical vortexes, Sedona is truly one of a kind. Along the main strip there are plenty of shops, restaurants, and Sedona Brewery to check out and take a break when you’re not hiking Devil’s Bridge, Cathedral Rock, Bell Rock, and the many other trails. If hiking and being one with nature is what you’re looking for, Sedona is your place.

Sedona had been on our list of places to for awhile. We finally had the time and decided to make a mini road trip out of it after flying from Corpus Christi to Phoenix. Our trip started with driving to Palm Springs, California to spend a day there then a day in Joshua Tree National Park. Then we made our way over to Sedona. We decided to stay at the Hilton Sedona Resort at Bell Rock, which was really nice. At the time that we went, which was the end of January, there was not many people there. So it was nice to have only a handful of other guests there. Our first night there we went into town and explored the main strip a bit before meeting some friends for dinner at the Cowboy Club Grille & Spirits.

Our first morning, we decided to go hike Bell Rock. It was pretty cold out when we got started. It is a fairly easy hike, but there are some slippery spots and steep drop offs if you plan on hiking all the way around Bell Rock. Supposedly, there is one of the energy vortexes there on the north side of Bell Rock. We hiked for about an hour or so before we came back down to the car then headed on to Cathedral Rock Trail. Cathedral Rock Trail was about 3/4 of mile each way, but had more elevation gain than Bell Rock. There are some slick rocks and you may have to wait your turn to go up or down in areas, as there are some narrow paths in the rock formation. Once you get to the top, you’ll have amazing views of the valley.
