Did you know that Cape May, New Jersey is The Nation’s Oldest Seashore Resort? It is a quiet Victoria style beach town that is known for its Victorian style homes that line the shore and throughout the town.
Cape May is also home to the United State Coast Guard Training Center for new recruits. It is the 5th largest Coast Guard base. You may even see recruits conducting morning physical training (PT) on the beach in the mornings.

There are a few nature centers and preserves around if you like birding, wildlife photography, or just spending time outdoors. Check out the Nature Center of Cape May, South Cape May Meadows, Cape May National Wildlife Refuge, Cape May Wetlands State Natural Area, and Cape May Bird Observatory. Other things to check out are the Cape May Lighthouse as well as the SS Atlantus, which is one of the twelve famous concrete ships that were used as a transport ship. It ran aground and sank in 1926 due to bad weather. You can see it from Sunset Beach on the west side of the peninsula. The Washington Street Mall is another popular spot to walk and check out local shops. A great place for souvenirs. If you’re looking for a good seafood spot, head over to The Lobster House. It’s been open for over 100 years. It can get very busy during dinner time, so I recommend grabbing lunch there. Check back soon, as I will be adding more along with pictures.
