Poland is a wonderful country with great culture, food, and hospitality. This beautiful country has been able to keep moving forward while also remembering the horrific events and tragedies of Pre-World War II and during the War.
When in Krakow, make sure you see Market Square, Wawel Castle, St. Florian’s Gate, The Sukiennice (a small market that cuts through Market Square), Florianska Street, and St. Mary’s Basilica. Certainly take advantage of trying the local food, it’s amazing. On the outskirts of Krakow are the well-known concentration camps of Auschwitz-Birkenau. We stayed at Relaks Apartments while we were in Krakow. It had nice amenities along with a cafe for breakfast and snacks.
While in Krakow, we were unable to see the Barbican (an old 13th century medieval fortification), and the Kosciuszko Mound (a hill that honors its national hero, Tadeusz Kosciuszko).
We did not get to spend as much time as we would have liked, so we will certainly be going back. I highly recommend giving Poland a visit.
